The Shree Gopalakrishna Math was established in Avarsa by the 14th Guru of the lineage, P.P. Shreemad Bhuvijayaramachandra Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. This Math serves as a significant spiritual center for the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community in the Ankola region. The presiding deity, a beautiful Panchaloha idol of Shree Gopalakrishna, was ritually installed by P.P. Swamiji on an auspicious Monday, the 19th of January in 1801. To protect the premises, a separate temple dedicated to Shree Maruti was also established in front of the Math.
