The Gokarna Math in Mangalore was established in 1660 A.D. by the sixth Guru of the lineage, P.P. Shreemad Ramchandra Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. Originally situated elsewhere, the Math was relocated to its current prominent location near Rathabeedi (Temple Square) by the 11th Guru, P.P. Shreemad Ramakanta Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. Over the centuries, the Math has undergone significant spiritual and structural enhancements. In 1843, under the leadership of the 18th Guru, P.P. Shreemad Poornaprajna Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji, the installation of the Shree Veera Vitthal idol and a new temple building were completed, featuring the first golden Kalasha in the Dakshina Kannada region. The Math has been a center for intense spiritual activity, hosting several Chaturmaas programs by various Swamijis, including the historic Golden Chaturmaas in 2016 under the guidance of the 23rd Guru, P.P. Shreemad Vidyadhiraja Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji.
