Shree Vyasashram Math

📍 Bicholim, GOA
🏛 Est. 1637 CE
🧘 Founded by P.P. Shreemad Anujeevottam Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji
History
  • The Dicholi Shaka Math, known as Shree Vyasashram, was established by the fifth Guru of the lineage, P.P. Shreemad Anujeevottam Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. During a period of migration, many Saraswat families from Bardesh, Tisvadi, and Sasashti settled in Bicholim (Dicholi) to preserve their sacred culture and religion. To provide these families with spiritual shelter and moral strength, P.P. Swamiji constructed this Math in 1637 A.D.

Their commitment to the community was such that they remained with the disciples in Dicholi until their final days. P.P. Shreemad Anujeevottam Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji attained haripaada in 1637 A.D. while camping here. The Math houses their holy Vrindavana. Years later, in 1906, the 20th Guru, P.P. Shreemad Indirakanta Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji, performed the ritual installation (Pratishtha) of the Shree Laxmi Narayan idol made of Chandrakant Shila. The Math features beautifully painted wooden idols of doorguards Jay and Vijay, maintaining the traditional aesthetic of the lineage.
